Asia’s Chief Executive Perspectives
The Asia Business Council’s sixth annual survey revealed growing concerns in future business conditions. Members are concerned about inflation in Asia and continued financial instability in the United States and Europe. The survey also asked about overall investment plans and trends affecting the Asian business environment and the executives’ own businesses.
Highlights of the survey findings are as follows:
- One third of respondents believe that Asia’s economy will improve, 39% believe conditions will remain the same and 29% anticipate conditions will worsen over the next 12 months.
- The largest proportion of members invested in China in the past year (71%), more than double those who invested in India.
- Respondents indicated heightened concerns over rising energy costs and market volatility in addition to fears of growing protectionism.
